Artist Statement
In my drawings I explore visual, spatial compositions by using different modes of line structures in combination with fields of painted colors. The ‘Drawings in Black’ series 01 and 02 on paper are composed of oil crayons and black oil paint applied with a brush. In various series of drawings, the different paper qualities and sizes allow for a different reaction between line, paint and paper, which defines the various results. The production process itself is the core of this artistic intervention, which hints to something intangible within the line and color spaces.
My work does not investigate a narrative structure nor does it present any explicit message. I rather see the results of my work as a physical demonstration of the relationship between a thought and its physical execution engaging in both process and material. The audience is invited to share the pleasure of drawing and painting to decipher thoughts, rules and processes.
